ProTemps Ltd. Is currently seeking a Journeyman Automotive Technician for one of our clients based out of West Edmonton. Our client is looking for a Journeyman Auto Technician with experience in a production shop. The ideal candidate will have a Journeyman Certificate with experience in repairing Diesel vehicles. This role will be under minimal supervision so a motivated individual is required. The client would prefer someone with shop management experience as there may be apprentices that will require training and guidance in this role. Ideally this candidate will also be tech savvy as all of this shops invoicing is cloud based.

Key Responsibilities

·         Inspect vehicles for damage, missing parts and mechanical problems

·         Troubleshoot and diagnose problems; estimate repair costs according to appropriate guidelines

·         Competency in the use of diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting of electronic control systems

·         Performs accurate and complete vehicle inspections, diagnostics, estimates and repairs

·         Completes and reviews repair orders and vehicle inspection reports; explains any additional maintenance work required to customers in an effort to attain a trusting relationship and long-term retention

·         Provides quality workmanship to meet or exceed industry standards

·         Perform all types of vehicle maintenance (mechanical work on brakes, fuel pumps, alternators, air conditioning, oil changes, tire balancing and rotations, replacing batteries, etc.)

·         Remains current with up-to-date knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of vehicles

·         Assist in the direction and training of other equipment mechanics and apprentices

·         Perform other duties as assigned by manager

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·         High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

·         Alberta Journeyman Automotive Technician certification required; Red Seal would be ideal

·         Valid Driver’s Licence with clean Drivers Abstract and good driving record

·         Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmissions

·         Previous experience working on Diesel vehicles

·         Proficient at operating automotive diagnostic equipment

·         Strong communication skills; ability to listen carefully and to give precise instructions

·         Ability to plan, organize, delegate and follow-up on daily tasks

·         Ability to resolve problems and make decisions

·         Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment

·         Ability to work overtime and weekends as business needs dictate
